Lights won’t cut off

My son turned the lights on using the app and now the app will not turn them off. So he ended up having to cut the wires to the lights that he paid $250 for so it doesn’t ruin his battery. He tried to delete the app and reinstall and that didn’t work and he also tried to disconnect his battery to get the lights to turn off but when he reconnected they came back on. He had no choice by to cut the wires because the studio app didn’t work to turn them off.
